Commercial equipment fire at Atascocita mulch facility prompts temporary road closure

ATASCOCITA, TX – Firefighters responded to a large fire at Dirt Cheap Mulch Co., located at 4460 FM 1960, on Monday evening around 9 p.m. https://youtu.be/niNZ3zkQCsk According to the Atascocita Fire Department, firefighters arrived at the scene and found a large piece of commercial equipment had become fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked to contain the fire while thick smoke affected visibility in the area. As a precaution, FM 1960 Rd East near Artesian Way was temporarily closed in both directions. Pct. 4 Constable deputies also responded, blocking traffic for a short time to assist firefighters and ensure safety. The roadway has since been reopened.
