CenterPoint Energy files plan to reduce customer impact of $450 million Derecho storm recovery costs

HOUSTON, TX - CenterPoint Energy announced plans last week to spread the $450 million emergency response costs from the May 2024 Derecho storm across a 15-year period, resulting in a minimal bill increase of approximately $1 per month for customers. The proposed financing, filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), aims to save customers more than $50 million in interest charges over the period. The May 16 Derecho storm, which caused an estimated $5 billion in damages unrelated to CenterPoint infrastructure, was labeled a "once-in-a-generation" event with wind gusts exceeding 100 miles per hour and several tornadoes across Greater Houston. Woman critically injured after chasing man in Aldine Bender crash

Both individuals were transported to a hospital. The man is reported to be in good condition, while the woman remains in surgery in critical condition.

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating an accident t where a pedestrian was struck twice by vehicles on the Southwest Freeway frontage road. The collision occurred around 8:05 p.m. on November 10 in the 6100 block of the SW Freeway. According to the driver of a red sedan, he was on the exit ramp when he struck a pedestrian who was reportedly running across the lane. The impact reportedly threw the pedestrian into a lane on the service road, where they were hit a second time by a white vehicle, possibly an SUV, which left the scene.
