HOUSTON, TX – A fatal accident involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle, a Nissan occurred on the Eastex Freeway service road. The fatal crash occurred in the 23100 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road around 1:05 p.m. near Kingwood Dr. https://youtu.be/k6Sb51Zbo6k According to police, a bicyclist was traveling southbound on the service road near the above address when, as he changed lanes, he was struck from behind by a red Nissan Rogue. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the bicyclist deceased. The driver of the Nissan, a 74-year-old female, remained at the scene. Police determined she was not impaired, and after being questioned, she was released. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

According to Houston police, the individual was first hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. A second vehicle then ran over the pedestrian accidentally but remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The Houston Fire Department transported the pedestrian to a hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
