According to the Houston Fire Department (HFD), the call initially reported a pickup truck on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had spread to a second vehicle, the home, and the garage. While extinguishing the blaze, crews discovered a body inside one of the vehicles. The Houston Fire Department’s Arson Division and the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division are investigating the incident. According to Smokey Mountain, the suspects have stolen more than $2,000 worth of items across both incidents before fleeing the scene. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
