88-year-old man identified as victim in a fatal car crash on Houston freeway

September 4, 2022 - An 88-year-old man was identified as the sole victim of a fatal car crash in the 15300 Block of the Eastex Freeway. According to investigators with the Houston Police Department, the man "was driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on the freeway at the above address when the vehicle crossed several lanes, left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier.  Paramedics transported the driver to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased." The investigation is still ongoing and we will update you as soon as we have more information.

August 23, 2022 - A suspect was fatally shot by Houston Police after taking a supervisor hostage and forcing her to drive down the Eastex freeway. Police caught up to the kidnapping victim and the suspect at a Shell gas station in Splendora, TX, just north of Houston. According to the Houston Police Department, " "The suspect arrived at a commercial building in the 400 block of Benmar Drive and, at gunpoint, took a female employee from the location against her will.  A short time later, the suspect contacted the employee’s supervisor and threatened to harm the employee if the supervisor did not meet with him.  The supervisor met with the suspect and the suspect then released the female employee.  The suspect then, at gunpoint, took the supervisor against her will and ordered her to...

Two suspects, Ashim Taylor Jr, and Jayland Womack, were arrested and booked into Harris County Jail today, suspected and charged with murdering Pct. 3 Deputy Omar Ursin on Madera Run Pkwy in The Groves neighborhood of Atascocita, Texas, a suburb of Houston last month. Police chase ends with crash and car fire in north Houston

A high-speed police chase quickly came to an end when the suspect's vehicle crashed on Little York near 59, the Eastex Freeway in north Houston. It is unclear how many suspects were in the vehicle, but officers with the Harris County Sheriff's Office were able to detain all of the suspects before they fled the scene. The crash occurred at about 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in the 10700 block of the Eastex Freeway. Several vehicles were involved, including the suspect's vehicle. One of these vehicles caught on fire. It is unclear at this time what led up to the chase, but we will update you as soon as we have more information.

After news spread of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced via a press statement that City Hall will be lit up in red, white, and blue to honor the late Queen. In the press statement released on Thursday afternoon, Mayor Sylvester Turner also stated: "In May 1991, Queen Elizabeth II embarked on a historical tour of major cities throughout Texas. As a State Representative at the time, I joined Gov. Ann Richards and other lawmakers in welcoming her to the Texas Capitol. One man detained by police after accident topples over utility pole

Several vehicles were involved in an accident in the 4800 block of East Mount Houston, near the Eastex freeway that occurred around 10 p.m. on September 2, 2022. At least one of these hit a utility pole at some point during the accident. https://youtu.be/QUh1J5DWYDE One man also appeared to be detained by police after the accident that took place in front of Manny's Mexican Grill & Seafood restaurant in north Houston. It is not clear why he was detained. Surprisingly, there did not seem to be any major injuries and tow trucks were observed picking up vehicles on the scene. The Humble Police Department is looking for a suspect that was involved in a shooting outside a busy Mcdonald's late Thursday night. https://www.youtube.com/embed/ddZZSwIyXaU The shooting, which occurred on September 1, 2022, shortly after 10 p.m., took place at the McDonald's located on the corner of Wilson and Will Clayton Pkwy.
