HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tow truck late Sunday night on Westheimer near Westhollow in West Houston. According to investigators, the driver of a white tow truck was traveling eastbound on Westheimer when it struck a 47-year-old male pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity is pending notification to family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The investigation is ongoing. HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Michael Simmons, identified as the victim in a deadly parking lot shooting that occurred outside a shopping center at 6607 West Fuqua Street near Chimney Rock around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. According to HPD Homicide Division investigators, officers responded to a shooting call and found that Simmons had been shot at least once. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives determined Simmons may have been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals immediately before the shooting.
