HOUSTON, TX – A home invasion early Tuesday morning ended with one suspect fatally shot and another taken into custody following a high-speed police chase. A woman called 911 and hid in a closet after her boyfriend told her to do so when she reported a break-in attempt. Police said two suspects kicked in the front door. HOUSTON, TX – A large pile of trash was left across the northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway near West Airport after a dump truck reportedly overturned. The photo above was sent in by one of our viewers via tips@houstonstringer.com As of 10:30 p.m., Houston Police Department officers had the lanes blocked off while waiting for the debris to be cleared from the roadway. HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tow truck late Sunday night on Westheimer near Westhollow in West Houston. According to investigators, the driver of a white tow truck was traveling eastbound on Westheimer when it struck a 47-year-old male pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity is pending notification to family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The investigation is ongoing. HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Michael Simmons, identified as the victim in a deadly parking lot shooting that occurred outside a shopping center at 6607 West Fuqua Street near Chimney Rock around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. According to HPD Homicide Division investigators, officers responded to a shooting call and found that Simmons had been shot at least once. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives determined Simmons may have been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals immediately before the shooting.
