Teenager dies after crashing into tree in Humble

HUMBLE, TX – A tragic update to the fatal crash in the 2800 block of N Houston Avenue reveals that the deceased victim is a teenage girl, possibly 15 years old, who was away from her high school campus at the time of the crash, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 10:29 a.m. and found a vehicle that had struck a tree and become engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, they discovered a deceased body in the front passenger seat.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division arrived at the scene and took over the investigation. Investigators interviewed a witness who arrived shortly after the crash and managed to pull a male out of the driver’s seat before the flames consumed the vehicle. The witness attempted to rescue the female passenger but could not free her legs, which were pinned inside.

The male driver was later found being treated for crash-related injuries at an emergency room. Authorities identified him with assistance from the Houston Police Department. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.

Sheriff Gonzalez expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends, stating, “Gone far too soon.” The Sheriff’s team is working closely with the family and the impacted school district.
