Two injured in major fuel tanker fire on North freeway

HOUSTON, TX (June 2, 2024) – Just before 10 p.m. last night, Houston Firefighters responded to an 18-wheeler on fire after a crash with another vehicle in the southbound lanes of the North Freeway near Tidwell.

According to Deputy Chief Harrison of the Houston Fire Department, two civilians were injured and transported to a local hospital. One of them has non life threatening injuries, and the other civilian’s condition is unknown at this time. A foam blanket was put on the fire by Hazmat crews to extinguish it. The truck was carrying about 8,800 gallons of unleaded fuel. No firefighters were injured.
