HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man was killed in a head-on collision Friday night after his SUV veered into oncoming traffic in northeast Harris County.
The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Atascocita Road. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV was traveling westbound when it lost control while going through a curve and crossed into the eastbound lanes, where it was struck head-on by a pickup truck.
The driver of the SUV, described as a Black male in his late 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as the at-fault driver. Authorities say there is evidence suggesting he may have been drinking prior to the crash.
The pickup truck was occupied by a father and his 8-year-old child. Both sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
