COLONY RIDGE, TX – Governor Greg Abbott announced today that Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and special agents are assisting Homeland Security Investigations in an operation targeting alleged criminal activity and undocumented immigrants in Colony Ridge.
The operation follows months of planning with former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan. Abbott stated that the enforcement efforts are part of a broader initiative to increase border security and combat illegal immigration in Texas.
Colony Ridge, a rapidly expanding residential development, has drawn scrutiny from state officials who claim it has become a hotspot for criminal activity and illegal immigration. Recent legislation has been introduced to allocate $40 million toward increased law enforcement presence in the area, which includes overtime expenses for DPS personnel and border security operations statewide.
