HOUSTON, TX – A man was shot during an attempted robbery while sleeping under the Katy Freeway early this morning in west Houston.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of I-10 and Highway 6 in the 14800 block of the Katy Freeway. According to police, the victim was asleep under the freeway when a suspect approached and tried to take his backpack. When the victim resisted, the suspect shot him in the leg.
The victim managed to walk to a nearby hotel for help. Officers arrived and provided first aid, applying a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
