Claims about Colony Ridge being filled with cartels and gangs contrast with suburban reality in new video

CLEVELAND, TX – A new video taken on Monday, January 27, 2025, offers a firsthand look at Colony Ridge, a large residential development located in Cleveland, near Liberty County. The footage, captured during my drive through the Terrenos Houston area of Colony Ridge, which is near FM 3549 and Highway 99, reveals a quiet, suburban neighborhood that contrasts sharply with claims suggesting it is a hub for cartels and gang activity.

In the video, which showcases my drive through the Terrenos area, I observed clean streets, rows of houses, and families going about their day. There were no visible signs of cartel or gang presence. However, I did notice quite a few dogs roaming freely in the area but areas around Houston have the same problem. You can view the video of my drive in its entirety below if you want to see for yourself.

This video responds to a social media post by Sarah Fields (@SarahisCensored), who alleged that Colony Ridge houses over 75,000 undocumented immigrants and has become a center for illegal activity. Fields also claimed that developer Trey Harris offered direct home loans that do not require social security numbers, purportedly attracting undocumented immigrants.

While the footage provides a contrasting perspective, it does not dismiss allegations made in a lawsuit filed by the State of Texas against Colony Ridge and its affiliates in March 2024. According to Case No. 4:24-cv-00941, the lawsuit accuses Colony Ridge and its developer, John Harris, of deceptive trade practices, fraud in real estate transactions, and violations of consumer financial laws, including misleading Spanish-speaking buyers about the readiness of their lots and city services.

Please note that this video only covers the Terrenos Houston area of Colony Ridge. Given the vast size of Colony Ridge, it is impossible to see it all in one visit. If you are from the area and have firsthand knowledge of high-crime spots, please reach out to tips@houstonstringer.com. Efforts will be made to revisit and document those areas and you will remain anonymous. First impressions? This is not the gang and cartel-infested area as the internet claims it to be.

Very obvious your video is biased as you didn’t actually drive thru the entire colony ridge. You said fm 3549 and hwy 99…. Try Plum Grove/Cleveland side. Totally different story. Me and my husband actually was purchasing land out there until 2 kids got shot outside of where our mailbox would be for that section of the Santa Fe subdivision. Those kids were shot because they didn’t want to join a freaking gang. So we decided not to continue making anymore payments.

    • Thanks for your comment. It’s not being biased, just what I observed, as stated in the article and given the size of it, I need a more targeted approach. The one thing I do not like is that the subdivisions are not very well defined on maps or in person i.e. Subdivision signage at the beginning of neighborhoods. I will say it sounds like I need to go to that street that had that Mailbox on there. What is a good general address/street for that side?

Edit: I think I found that story though, It was “near County Road 5260 and 5200”. I will head that way, hopefully tomorrow if nothing comes up. Check back in the evening. Thanks!

Here we have a bunch of illegals immigrants shooting Every night. You should go through every road at night after 10pm and count every time they start shooting. It will give you the right response and you will learn that in fact all this place is run by cartels and gang members. And yes, your research seems to be a biased one.

Wherever you go, it’s doubtful that gangs and cartel members will be sitting out front of their houses, engaged in violence and drug dealing.

I have lived in the Santa Fe subdivision for almost 1 year and 6 months and moved here from upstate New York and I can’t believe the things they say about this place! We are an older couple not of Hispanic decent and the people here have been so nice always trying to help us out I could not ask for better neighbors! I would recommend this subdivision to anyone that wants a quiet peaceful life! It is a very family oriented subdivision that care about their fellow neighbors! The only problem is dogs running loose! As far as one person was talking about gun shots every night that does not happen here where I live!
