TikTok to seek Supreme Court injunction after federal court upholds ban

TikTok has announced plans to seek an injunction against the federal court’s ruling upholding a law banning the platform, calling the decision unconstitutional.

According to an email from Kim Farrell, Global Head of Creators, the platform strongly disagrees with the court’s decision and intends to prevent the ban from taking effect until the U.S. Supreme Court has an opportunity to review the matter. The company argues that the ban violates the First Amendment rights of its 170 million American users.

Farrell expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will uphold the constitutional right to free speech, citing its historical record of protecting such freedoms. “We will continue to fight for our community and are confident we will build a safe, secure, and innovative platform,” Farrell stated.

TikTok reiterated its commitment to its creator community, emphasizing their role as the “heart and soul” of the platform. The company also thanked users for their ongoing support and partnership during this legal battle.
