HOUSTON, TX – Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred earlier today in the 1100 block of Rankin Road outside of a convenience store.
The victim, a 34-year-old male, has not yet been publicly identified, pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to Houston police, officers responded to reports of a shooting in a strip center parking lot at the above location and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police have identified Elijah D. Johnson, 32, as the suspect and have filed a murder charge against him. Johnson remains at large.
