Man shot in jaw after threatening to shoot and hurt security guard while pushing him

HOUSTON, TX – A 29-year-old male was shot in the jaw during an altercation with a security guard at a convenience store located at 3821 Old Spanish Trail early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around midnight. According to police, the victim entered the store with an open container of alcohol, prompting the security guard, believed to be in his late 50s, to ask him to leave. The victim became belligerent, threatened the guard, and pushed him. He then exited the store, retrieved something from his car, and re-entered.

Once back inside, the victim continued to push the guard and threaten to harm him, forcing the guard from the store’s front door toward one of the aisles. The security guard then drew a revolver and fired a single shot, striking the victim in the jaw.

The victim is expected to recover. The security guard was detained for questioning and later released. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted, but no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
