HOUSTON, TX – A fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver occurred early Sunday morning along the Eastex Freeway near the Rankin exit.
According to police, around 3:02 a.m., a white SUV traveling northbound in the second lane was struck by a southbound Silverado pickup driving in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes. The female driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
Two juveniles in the Silverado, a 14-year-old and a 6-year-old, were taken to a local hospital with injuries. Both are expected to survive. The wrong-way driver, who sustained a broken leg, is under investigation for possible intoxication.
