Houston City Hall Lights Up in Red to Honor Fallen Firefighter Marcelo Garcia

HOUSTON, TX — Houston City Hall was illuminated in red last night to honor the memory of Houston Fire Department Firefighter Marcelo “Ox” Garcia III, who died in the line of duty on November 7. Garcia tragically lost his life while battling a three-alarm warehouse fire on Supply Row that left another firefighter injured.

The Houston Fire Department’s Arson Bureau has filed first-degree arson charges against Yesenia Mendez, 38, in connection with the deadly blaze. As the investigation continues, the city mourns the loss of Garcia, whose dedication and service are remembered by colleagues and the Houston community.

In a statement, city officials expressed condolences to Garcia’s family and vowed to support the firefighters impacted by the tragedy.
