Louisiana woman working as hairstylist charged with trafficking Texas teen while out on bond

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office recently located and rescued a 16-year-old runaway who was reportedly being trafficked. The rescue followed several days of searching for the missing teen, who is now safely in custody according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Kaylyn L. Redding, a 22-year-old woman from Louisiana, has been charged with felony promotion of prostitution involving a minor, a first-degree felony. The case is registered under Case No. 189071601010. This latest charge follows a previous prostitution-related offense for which Redding was out on bond; that case, filed in June under Case No. 251409201010-2, is also in Harris County District Court.

During a recent court hearing, prosecutors presented evidence indicating Redding’s involvement in the trafficking case, including online advertisements allegedly promoting sexual services. Records show these ads featured the complainant’s information, including contact details linking back to Redding.

Redding confirmed in court that she would request a court-appointed attorney. Prosecutors sought a $75,000 bond, while the defense requested a $10,000 bond, citing Redding’s Houston residency, part-time employment as a hairstylist, and current FEMA-provided housing. The court set her bond at $50,000, denying a personal recognizance bond due to the pending charges.

Bond conditions for Redding include:

  • No contact with the rescued juvenile.
  • A restriction from being within 200 feet of any location associated with the complainant.
  • Limited travel to Harris County and adjacent counties only.
  • Prohibition on possessing deadly weapons.
  • No contact with individuals under 17 without court permission and a restriction from being within 1,000 feet of schools and daycare facilities.
