One dead, one injured after shootout in Spring Branch

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Johanna Drive Saturday evening.

Officers responded to reports of two groups of males exchanging gunfire in a parking lot of an apartment complex around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, police discovered several shell casings and a blood trail but no victims at the scene. Shortly after, one male was found deceased at a local clinic from apparent gunshot wounds. A second male was later found at a hospital with gunshot wounds and stated he had come from the same location.

Police have one suspect in custody, who was apprehended at the hospital. Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances leading to the shooting and whether a rifle was involved, as several different calibers of ammunition were found.

Both victims are believed to be between 18 and 22 years old.
