CHANNELVIEW, Texas — Ramiro Jayden Carmona, 16, died after a driver struck him and left the scene Saturday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

District 3 deputies responded to the 16000 block of Ridlon Street around 9:30 p.m and found Carmona in the second lane on the south side of the roadway and called for medics. A witness described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV.

Channelview medics found Carmona in critical condition. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 11:15 p.m.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the crash. Deputies said they would look for footage from nearby Flock cameras.
