HOUSTON — A man and a woman were shot in the neck early Saturday during an exchange of gunfire in the parking lot of Magnolia Club, police said.

Officers responded around 1:57 a.m. to the club in the 5000 block of Griggs Road. Police said two men pulled out firearms and shot at each other during an argument. What prompted the argument was unknown.

Arriving officers detained one suspect and recovered a firearm.

The wounded man and woman, both adults believed to be friends, were transported to a nearby hospital in the same vehicle, with officers escorting them.

At the hospital, the wounded man told officers he had returned fire at the suspect. He was also detained as a possible suspect.

Both victims were undergoing surgery and were in stable condition. Both were expected to survive, police said.
