HOUSTON, TX – A motorcycle passenger was killed early Sunday morning after a crash caused by a vehicle stopped in a moving lane of traffic in northeast Houston.
The incident occurred around 12:49 a.m. in the 9100 block of Ley Road. According to Houston Police, the vehicle was stopped in the roadway after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
A motorcycle traveling westbound swerved to avoid the stopped vehicle and dropped during the maneuver. Both the driver and passenger fell off the motorcycle.
The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver is expected to survive.
The driver of the stopped vehicle showed signs of intoxication and may face intoxication manslaughter charges.
