Two students injured in shooting outside Wisdom High School

HOUSTON, TX – Two students were injured in a shooting outside Wisdom High School following reports of gunfire near the campus at about 4:47 p.m.

According to initial reports, a black four-door Chevrolet Tahoe was seen driving slowly eastbound on Beverly Hill Street before occupants inside opened fire on two individuals walking nearby. One of the individuals, a 16-year-old sophomore student, was accompanied by his brother, who is not believed to be a student at the school. The student ran toward the school building and was grazed in the leg.

A second student, an 18-year-old junior, was standing farther down the street and was hit in the shoulder. Officials said she is not believed to have been the intended target and had been on campus for after-school activities. Both victims were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive.

No other students were injured, and no suspects are in custody at this time. The Houston Independent School District is working to identify the suspects and the vehicle involved. Authorities believe the two brothers were the intended targets of the shooting.

The school immediately went into lockdown following the shooting, later transitioning to a secure status and eventually releasing students. Additional patrol units and counselors will be present at the school in the morning to provide safety and support.

If you have any information, you are urged to contact the Houston Independent School District or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
