HOUSTON, TX – A fatal shooting occurred following a confrontation between two groups early Sunday morning at a taco truck, eventually leading to gunfire on Kempwood Drive in northwest Houston.
The incident began at a taco truck where two groups became involved in a verbal altercation. During the dispute, one group reportedly broke the window of a pickup truck belonging to the opposing party, which led to a physical fight. Both groups then left the scene.
According to initial reports, the male in the damaged pickup truck drove to a residence and fired multiple gunshots, striking one individual. Family and friends of the victim placed him into a private vehicle and flagged down the Houston Fire Department at approximately 1:07 a.m. while transporting the victim down the street.
Houston Police Department Northwest Patrol units arrived and began a preliminary investigation. A second call was received at 1:19 a.m. for another gunshot victim located at 9001 Kempwood at the Estates at Spring Branch Apartment Homes. That individual was transported to a local hospital. It is not yet clear whether he was shot or injured by other means, but he is believed to be the second party involved.
It is unknown at this time whether the two individuals knew each other prior to the altercation.
