HOUSTON, TX – Two women were killed in a multi-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on the Gulf Freeway near Griggs.
The crash occurred around 1:18 a.m. According to initial reports, a black sedan was reportedly struck from behind by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. The black sedan came to rest facing the wrong direction in the middle of the freeway and was disabled.
One female occupant was inside the black sedan at the time of the initial collision. It is currently unknown if she died from the first impact or from a secondary crash.
A Ford Explorer carrying two women stopped nearby in an effort to provide assistance. The female passenger exited the vehicle to check on the black sedan.
A blue sedan then attempted to swerve around the disabled black sedan but struck it and also hit the female pedestrian from the Explorer.
Both the woman inside the black sedan and the woman who exited the Explorer were pronounced deceased at the scene.
