Pedestrian critically injured after being struck by vehicle on SH 249

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on State Highway 249 Saturday night.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. near the intersection of West Mount Houston and SH 249 in north Houston.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling eastbound in lane one and had just passed through the intersection when it struck a pedestrian who was reportedly crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk.

A doctor who was nearby stopped to render first aid until emergency crews arrived.

The pedestrian, described as a Hispanic male approximately 25 to 40 years old, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
