Houston man charged with murder after killing his brother in fatal shooting

HOUSTON, TX – A man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his brother following an argument at a residence on Manning Lane.

The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at 7512 Manning Lane. According to the Houston Police Department, officers arrived to find a 28-year-old man unresponsive in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as Juan Antonio Meza Cruz, 31, who is the victim’s brother. Witness statements and further investigation determined Meza Cruz shot his brother during a dispute. Officers quickly located and arrested Meza Cruz a short time later.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office filed a murder charge against Meza Cruz, and he was booked into the Harris County Jail. The victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
