Lawn worker accused of attacking postal worker released on $100 bond

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A woman accused of attacking a postal worker with a weed eater was released on a $100 bond after her arrest.

According to Constable Mark Herman’s Office, deputies responded to a weapons disturbance on March 12, 2025, in the 23600 block of Willow Haven Drive.

Investigators identified the suspect as Margarita Avila, a lawn worker. Authorities said Avila was weeding the grass near a cluster mailbox when a postal worker asked her to step back due to debris blowing toward her. After being asked a second time and tapped on the shoulder, Avila allegedly attacked the postal worker with the weed eater, causing multiple welts on her arm and body.

Avila was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with assault-bodily injury. Her bond was set at $100 out of County Court 3.
