HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Fire Department, in collaboration with Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD), will conduct a controlled burn at Sylvan Rodriguez Park on March 13, weather permitting.

The controlled burn is aimed at reducing accumulated vegetation that poses a wildfire risk to nearby residential communities. By decreasing the fuel load, fire officials aim to enhance public safety and protect homes in the surrounding area.
Residents and motorists near Sylvan Rodriguez Park should expect visible smoke, emergency personnel, and reduced speeds in the area. Officials urge drivers to reduce their speed, use headlights when smoke is present, and follow posted speed limits. Fire and police personnel will be heavily present throughout the operation.
For public safety, residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to any traffic control measures implemented during the burn.
