HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) earlier today.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. in the 5900 block of the Southwest Freeway.
According to the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver of a white Ford Expedition had a flat tire and stopped in a moving lane of traffic. A black Kia Sportage struck the rear of the Ford, and a silver BMW 5 Series then collided with the Kia.
The unknown male driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot. Paramedics transported the Ford’s passenger, three occupants of the Kia, and the driver of the BMW to area hospitals. Doctors later pronounced the front male passenger of the Kia, 18, deceased. The other individuals sustained minor injuries.
