HOUSTON, TX – Two Houston police officers were severely injured in a crash early Sunday morning while attempting a U-turn underneath the 610 North Loop at Ella Boulevard.
The crash occurred around 1:06 a.m. when officers from the North Shepherd Division were responding to assist another officer. While traveling along the feeder road, they attempted to make a U-turn but missed, striking one of the pillars.
Both officers, one male and one female, suffered severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital. One officer sustained obvious broken bones, while the extent of the other officer’s injuries is currently unknown.
According to police, both officers are younger members of the department and were just 20 days shy of their one-year mark on the force.
