15-year-old shoots mother and sister after consuming edibles in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody after allegedly shooting his mother and sister following an adverse reaction to consuming a large amount of edibles, according to police.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at the 100 block of Greens. The initial call was made by the teenager, who stated he was going to kill someone or himself. A dispatcher contacted the boy’s mother, who said there was nothing wrong.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect had shot his mother multiple times in the back and his 17-year-old sister several times. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where they underwent surgery and remain in critical condition. A third sister, 16, was present but unharmed.

Houston Fire Department personnel arrived before police and encountered the teen in the parking lot. The suspect pointed a firearm at firefighters, claimed he had just killed someone, threw the weapon, and fled on foot. Officers pursued and apprehended him a few hundred yards away. The firearm was recovered at the scene. No firefighters were injured.
