Home of Lamar CISD employee murdered last week by husband destroyed in fire overnight

ROSENBERG, TX – The home where a Lamar CISD employee was killed last week went up in flames overnight, prompting an investigation by the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire occurred at the residence in the 8900 block of Rocky Knoll in Rosenberg, the same location where 52-year-old Iona Pollard, an instructional coach at George Junior High School, was found fatally shot. Pollard was allegedly killed by her husband, 47-year-old David Pollard, who remains in custody on a murder charge.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire or if it is related to the ongoing homicide investigation. Fire officials have not reported any additional injuries from the blaze.

David Pollard was arrested following the discovery of his wife’s body and is currently being held on a $300,000 bond. Counselors were made available at George Junior High School on Monday to support students and staff following her death.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the fire investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the fire marshal’s office or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
