HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating after a man fatally shot his father during an altercation at a home in southeast Houston.
The shooting occurred Tuesday night in the 500 block of Edgebrook. According to authorities, officers arrived to find a man deceased inside the home. Investigators later determined the man had been shot by his son.
Police said the son, who is in his 20s, claimed the shooting was in self-defense. He remained at the scene and was taken into custody for questioning. The mother and grandmother were also inside the home at the time of the incident, officials said.
Authorities are investigating reports that the father may have been armed with an ax during the altercation, but that information has not been confirmed.
Neither the victim’s nor the suspect’s names have been released.
