Former Uber Driver Wanted for Child Sexual Assault Shot by U.S. Marshals in Houston Arrest

HOUSTON, TX – U.S. Marshals apprehended 31-year-old Robert Johnson III, a former Uber driver wanted for aggravated assault and sexual assault of a child, after shooting him during an attempted arrest at a McDonald’s in Houston.

Johnson had been on the run since cutting off his ankle monitor after being released on bond. Officers attempted to take him into custody, but he refused to comply. A Taser was ineffective, and Johnson raised an object perceived as a threat. Officers fired at him before deploying a K-9 unit to subdue him.

Johnson was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
