HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A single-vehicle crash involving a tree and a high-speed impact prompted a response from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office late Saturday night.
The crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. in the 13000 block of Barker Cypress Road. According to deputies, the vehicle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, causing the car to strike a tree in the center median. The impact was so severe that the vehicle’s engine separated and struck another southbound vehicle. Fortunately, no one in the second vehicle was injured.
The driver, the sole occupant of the first vehicle, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in the Texas Medical Center due to the velocity of the crash. Investigators who spoke with the driver at the hospital found no indications of impairment.
