On November 11, 2024, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a distressing call at the Hi Tek Washateria in the 13000 block of Kuykendahl Road, where a six-year-old child was reportedly locked inside a clothing dryer. Upon arrival, deputies located the visibly shaken and crying child.
Constable deputies moved to detain suspects on scene, leading to a foot chase when a male suspect attempted to evade. During the pursuit, a woman blocked a deputy by pushing him. She was detained and identified as Life Ford. The male suspect, Haven Duncan, was apprehended on site and found carrying a loaded firearm. Following a search perimeter, deputies located and identified the evading suspect as Jaqory Gill.
The investigation revealed that the child was under the care of Ford, Duncan, and Gill at the time of the incident. After losing a bag of chips, the child was reportedly placed in the dryer by Duncan as a form of punishment, with Ford and Gill allegedly refusing to let him out until the chips were found. The child remained confined in the dryer for approximately five minutes until bystanders called authorities and EMS.
Following medical evaluation, the child was released to a guardian. Child Protective Services was notified of the case’s details.
All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Haven Duncan faces a Child Endangerment charge with a bond set at $10,000 from the 338th District Court. Jaqory Gill is charged with Evading on Foot, with a bond set at $100 from County Court 15. Life Ford is charged with Interfering with the Duties of a Public Servant, with her bond set at $100 from County Court 7.
