Man shot in ankle by man he had argument with earlier in the day

HOUSTON, TX – A man in his 30s was shot in the ankle during an altercation early Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Anita Street.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. According to police, the suspect, believed to be in his 40s and known to the victim, approached him following a prior dispute earlier in the day. According to witnesses, both men are reported to live in the area and have ties to drug activity in the neighborhood.

Witnesses stated the victim was sitting on a couch near the corner of the road when the suspect confronted him. After a brief exchange, the suspect reportedly told the victim he would shoot him. When the victim told him to go ahead, the suspect shot him in the ankle and fled the scene.

Authorities believe they have identified the suspect and are working to locate him.
