Daughter needs public’s help after her mother goes missing in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Verdell Monroe, a 62-year-old woman, has been reported missing since she was last seen on October 4, 2024, near the intersection of Collingsworth Street and Hardy Street. She was last spotted visiting a male friend who resides in a white house on the northeast corner of the block.

According to her daughter, Monroe was seen by the friend walking up the street without any of her usual belongings, which typically include a purse, backpack, and grocery basket. She was accompanied by a little white cat, which was unusual, as she is usually seen with her small brown dog. The male friend mentioned that Monroe said she would return that night, but she never came back.

The daughter reported visiting the male friend the following day, who initially stated he had last saw Monroe on the evening of October 4, but later provided inconsistent information to the police, saying he had seen her three days earlier.

Officers with the Houston Police Department have been canvassing the area and searching along U.S. 59, but no new leads have emerged.

Monroe is described as a Black female, 5’5″, weighing 120 pounds, with black hair with bows all over. She last seen wearing army-style clothing. She has high blood pressure and a mental disability.
