Teen Charged in Houston Shooting; Second Suspect At Large

HOUSTON, July 14, 2024 – Jesus Ventura Lopez, 17, has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon following a shooting incident at 7400 Walker Street around 9:10 a.m. on Sunday.

The 57-year-old victim was critically injured and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

According to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division patrol officers responded to a call at a residence near the incident location and found the victim with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics quickly transported him to the hospital.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim was outside his residence when he was shot by an unknown assailant, who then fled in an unidentified vehicle. Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of Lopez as a suspect. He was taken into custody on Tuesday (July 16) without incident and is now held in the Harris County Jail. A second suspect involved in the incident remains unidentified and at large.
