Watch: Funeral Procession for Harris County Deputy Fernando Esqueda

HOUSTON, TX – A funeral procession took place this morning for fallen Harris County Deputy Fernando Esqueda. Law enforcement officials escorted Esqueda’s body to the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The five-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed in an ambush-style attack last Wednesday while searching for a suspect who was accused of attacking a pizza worker at a Little Caesars in east Harris County earlier in the day. Two people have now been arrested in connection with his murder – 44-year-old Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer, and 26-year-old Dremone Francis.

Deputy Esqueda’s funeral will be held on July 19 at 10 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart located at 1111 St. Joseph Pkwy in Downtown Houston.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, located at 2405 Navigation Boulevard. A rosary will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
