HOUSTON, Texas (February 24, 2024) A man was shot following an altercation that led to him being shot by a teenager while arguing with them in downtown Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of McKinney near Austin just before 8:30 p.m.
According to police, the conflict began when two teenagers riding a scooter were approached by a man who reportedly became physically and verbally aggressive towards them. The situation escalated when the man allegedly took the scooter from the teens and charged at them, prompting one of the teenagers to draw a firearm and shoot the man once in the abdomen.
The victim was promptly taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Witness accounts of the argument provided law enforcement with detailed descriptions of the teens involved, which led them being detained by officers.
The Houston Police Department noted that the teenagers are in their late teens, though their exact ages have yet to be confirmed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
