KATY, TEXAS – Three individuals were shot and injured outside Katy Mills Mall on Saturday evening following an altercation, local police reported. The incident, which occurred just after 9:10 p.m., prompted a significant police response, with officers cordoning off the entire mall to conduct an investigation.
During a press conference, authorities confirmed that the shooting resulted from a dispute between two groups, believed to be juveniles, near one of the mall’s main entrances. The confrontation escalated into violence, leading to at least three young people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries in the ensuing chaos.
Police disclosed that one of the injured parties ran into the mall through Entrance 5 in an attempt to escape the gunfire. Subsequently, the mall was fully evacuated as officers worked to secure the area.
Further investigations led to the discovery of a stolen car at the scene, which police suspect may have been involved in the incident. However, confirmation is pending as officials await analysis of surveillance footage.
Six individuals, all aged between 14 and 17, were detained in connection with the shooting, according to police statements. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and information.
